The Best Way to Slim Down? Begin Walking.

Creating some form of personal exercise program is a fantastic way to get rolling losing weight. If you haven’t worked out in a long time, or never, you may not have a clue how to get going. It might even be a little frightening, commitment wise. All you have to do is get moving and go for a walk. You should make walking an integral part of your workout plan.

There are lots of ways to fit walking into your daily schedule. Are you a dog owner? Take your dog for a pleasant, long walk. Anything less than 10 minutes doesn’t count. After a week, you’ll have walked a minimum of seventy minutes more than if you hadn’t gone for walks at all. If you and your dog go walking two times a day then that number doubles. Or how about walking to work, or at least a portion of the way? This is something you can do regardless the distance of your home from work. If you’re lucky enough to get just a thirty-minute or so walk to where you work, that’ll be an extra hour of walking every day. But then, if you catch the bus to work, you can just try to use a bus stop farther away than the one you normally use. It’s not hard to integrate walking to your daily routine.

Walking is one of the least complicated and best things you can do to become healthier. As walking an aerobic exercise, you’ll burn off calories, which means you’ll shed off some pounds and it’s also beneficial for your heart. You can go at a moderately slow pace if necessary, so don’t be worried that you’re going to hurt your muscles or joints as you might if you went for a run. I have a brother who’s one of those individuals who consumes a ton of junk and fast food but never gains weight. How does he do it? He mentioned to me how much walking he does each day, and it’s a lot more than I do. At any rate it now adds up. Walking is easy exercise, so there really is no reason you shouldn’t walk.

When you establish walking as a part of your daily schedule, it will become more effortless to stay with it, and as a bonus you’ll start to notice you’re losing weight, too. By walking you’ll also feel better and you won’t be discouraged by it because it’s not exhausting at all, which will make you feel more driven. The more often you walk, the more you’ll be wanting to walk . . . and the more quickly you’ll want to walk. This is terrific; anytime is a good time for you to do it. As soon as you’re walking at a reasonably good pace and feel ready, step it up by jogging. After that, you can do anything you want.

Now you know the truth – there is absolutely no excuse to not get out there and begin walking. You can always find time to walk around your work complex, or the block. If you can’t do that, get a gym membership and get on a treadmill. There are lots and lots of ways to skin this exercise cat.
