Eat tons of protein when you are trying to gain muscle. Protein is a key building block for muscles, and eating too little can actually cause you to lose muscle, your muscles will suffer. You might even require a daily gram of protein for each pound your weight.

You can cheat a little as you lift weights. Make sure that your repetitions is consistent. Do not compromise on your form. Know your limits, and push yourself to it. When doing your sets, keep pushing yourself until you cannot complete another push-up or lift the bar one more time.

It is vital to limit the amount of your workouts to 3 to 4 times per week. This will help to give your body time it needs to repair itself.

A solid muscle building program will increase your strength. You will be able to increase in the amount of weights you lift over time. When you first begin working on your muscles, you should be able to lift about 5% more every few workouts. If you have not been achieving your goals, you should look over the things you are doing wrong. If you find that you are weaker than your last session, your body may be having problems recovering.
